Documentary Ideas

1. Ted Yoder: Hammer Dulcimer Champion - My wife's uncle is a hammer dulcimer world class artist who travels the world performing for people. He is a great artist, wonderful father of 7 and an awesome person.

2. Studebaker Museum - Fantastic history about the Studebaker legacy and beautiful galleries. Also great to note that there would be a wonderful chance to add some history on Lincoln's carriage to the documentary.

3. Tippecanoe Place - beautiful scenery and another rich history. My be a tad dry as far as interesting conversation about the place, but very educational and could be a once and a lifetime opportunity.

Loneliness and Depression

Here are my 10 photos. They aren't what I wanted them to be, but I feel they still convey the message of emptiness and seclusion that comes from depression/loneliness.

Working Class Hero - Green Day

This adaptation of John Lennon's Working Class Hero is a powerful look into the atrocities that are occurring over seas in areas where acts against humanity are existent in everyday life. The video begins in a documentary style where people are being interviewed about their personal experiences with these issues. The music in the video is merely a backdrop for the stories of the individuals. High contrast and a black and white color scheme give a great dramatic tone to the video and helps convey the emotion in the refugees' stories. Also contributing to the visuals, the tight camera shots that close in on the faces really capture the essence of the these people as they share their lives to the camera.

Music Video Brainstorm

- Music Video -
Title:
This film would capture the loneliness and haziness that comes from depression. It would follow someone as they tried to find his way out of a forest (or wooded area) in the snow, trying to retrace their steps by trying to find their prints in the but they keep "vanishing" or become blocked by trees, symbolizing the way depression can leave you feeling cut off  or lost from others. As the video progresses, they would slowly start to find themselves on the right path and eventually finding someone there leading them out of the woods.

Documentary Brainstorm

- Documentary -
I would love to do a documentary of my wife's uncle who is a world class Hammer Dolcemer player.
Ted Yoder is a father of 7 who has devoted his life to playing the hammer dolcemer. Ted travels the world playing everything from concert halls to weddings and has won several awards over the years. The documentary would focus on how he got his start, why and where his passion comes from, and the struggles and triumphs of keeping his dream alive while providing for his large and wonderful family.

Narrative Brainstorm

- Narrative -
I really like stories that can be totally far fetched and comedic but still maintain a relative message to the audience. I had an idea in my head for a while now of doing a small narrative of someone trying to do a webcam blog about a zombie apocalypse. Yeah, I know it sounds silly, but I feel if done right, it could be very emotional and just an all around good short story. My vision would be something that brings Shaun of the Dead and Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog together, but without leaving the view of the webcam/close up shots. It would be about a guy in his mid 20's whose just trying to reach out to anyone left in the world after being trapped in his apartment during the outbreak. He reminisces about how things were, how things went down and shows his attempts of going outside to scour the new outside world. It would show comedic elements of him just goofing off trying to entertain himself, while also presenting a deeper emotion of loss and grief over his loved one.
